Why did I choose Pharmacy?
Hello bloggers!
Today I'm going to talk about my current studies. I decided to study pharmacy back in 3th grade, and I remember being so sure about it. I like chemistry, so I looked for careers related to, and althought I really like biotechnology and genetics, I found out that pharmacy was the best choise at the moment, because it has the widest field of work.
Main factors that influenced me to study pharmacy were salary and work schedule. In contrast to some of my classmates, I never thought studying medicine, because I don't like the life that doctors and nursers have. I want time for me and my future family, and what I like about pharmaceutics is that they can help people without sacrificing personal time.
What it really disgusts me about my career is that I think it is underpaid -even though the salary is high- because you must learn so many difficult things and sacrifice a lot of your time when you're studying, that maybe the final cost-benefit is not balanced. For that reason, I have questioned many times if I should keep going or not.
Now I'm just one step away from graduating and finally get my degree, so I'm feeling anxious about it. Once I'm ready I would like to find a job and save some money, so I could pay for an apartment and then buy a car.

Proud?
Call me sad, boring or a bitter person, but I think there's nothing I'm proud of. I'm not proud of myself or my family -although I love them. I'm not proud of my country or even the world, and definitely not proud of being human. So, here's the question, There's anything else to be proud of?
Maybe, is just that I'm not comfortable with that word. I wouldn't call it "being proud of something" but being satisfied instead. I have felt that I was satisfied with my work or performance many times. In fact, I like the way I am -mostly.
Anyway, I think that being proud of something or someone is more than just being satisfied. Because, when people said that are proud of something I think that they're boasting about it, like they were better, but in a bad way and with a negative connotation. Maybe because they only say they're proud when something very special happens, like a huge achievement, but not with simple little things of life.
I'm not denying the possibility of being proud in a good way, and I would like to feel that way sometime in the future. For now, I'm hoping it will happens when I finally finish my career.

Donnie Darko
Hi bloggers!
Today I'm going to talk about my impression of the movie Donnie Darko. The first time I saw it -a long time ago- I didn't understand it so well because I thought it was a psicological thriller about some disturbed guy who had bizarre visions and finally comitted suicide. However, now that I had the chance to see the movie again in class, I think that I understood it better. Maybe because we saw the director's cut version and with the original english audio we were capable of understand some things that were lost in the spanish version, and also to catch the main idea.
Anyway, like I said before, I think I misunderstood the movie the first time I saw it because I thought it was psychological, but now I realized that it is very feasible that Donnie wasn't really having hallucinations but actually experimenting some kind of time traveling. In fact, Donnie seems to be living in a reality he doesn't belong, in a parallel universe, in order to fulfil a mission. You can notice it with little hints and key parts of the movie, like when Donnie's dad mentions something about the serial number of the plane that crashed into Donnie's bedroom, which is identical to an existing one and suggests to the audience that it could be the same plane that came from the future.
This hints starts to make sense when Donnie begins interesting in time travel and read the book his teacher recomend him, wich describes all the things Donnie was suffering at the time and explains the theory behind them. Besides, this book was written by Roberta Sparrow (Grandma Death), who seems to be part of the experience as well as Frank and Donnie. Finally, you can realize that Donnie was chosen for saving the world when he decided to fix up things by dying, and then starts all over again. Finally, the main prove is in the end, when some of the characters appears to remember what happened before in the alternative reality.

An Exhibition
Hi bloggers!
Today I'm going to talk about an exhibition I went in August 30th. It was a medieval encounter in the Cousiño Palace that last the entire weekend. The entrance was free for everyone, so me and my boyfriend decided to go with two other friends who like that kind of medieval things.
In the exhibition we saw some beatiful paintings, jewelry and medieval accesories like swords and armours. In fact, we saw people with different kind of medieval costumes and even some performances of the different groups and medieval associations. Once they had finish the show, they invited everybody to join their group, so the main goal was to recruit people. It was very entertaining.
We also saw some medieval games. It attracts our attention a sort of chess some guys was playing, so we asked them to explain us how it worked but I don't remember much right now.
In general, the people that came to the exhibition they all love the medieval world and knew a lot of it. Every guy we asked for something answered our questions with pasion, so I felt like I was in a history class for a while.
We also saw music instruments, like guitars, bagpipes and flutes. Finally there was a concert at the end. We spent a great time together.

Current Reading
Hello bloggers!
I would like to tell you I'm reading a very interesting book or novel at the moment, but I actually don't. I have just finished some manga and I'm in process of looking for something new to read.
Is not that I don't like to read, but I have to read a lot of scientific documents and papers, so I prefer to "view" things insted of "read" them when I have some free time. I usually watch an anime and then read the corresponding manga, in order to compare the difference between the versions of the story.
Well, in fact there're some mangas that "I'm reading". I don't mention them before because I started to read them years ago and I still don't finish. I have re-started Reading 2 of them this year, but then I left them again about two month ago because I didn't have much time.
One of them is called "Chihayafuru", and as always, I begin reading it after I watched the anime. It is about a group of 3 friends that play "karuta", a traditional japanese card game. They met at the primary school and joined a "karuta society" where they can practice with other people and participate in competitions. Then they grew up and took different ways. Chihaya, the protagonist girl, decided to create a school group of karuta and started to recruit people. Finally she met their old friends again when they were teenagers and re-started playing.
I like this manga because it have an interesting and different story. I could learnt a lot of the japanese culture with it. I didn't know about the karuta game and I think it's fun. It requires a lot of concentration and good physical state. It isn't a simple card game. You have to memorize all 100 poems, which are written in part in the cards, in order to play!!. It's very competitive.

Special Talents
Hi, bloggers!
Today I'm going to talk about what I think is a special talent I've got. By my understanding, it is called "good hearing" or "musical ear". I don't have any musical studies, and I wish someday I could do, but despite that, I'm very good recognizing specific tones and then playing them. It was easy for me -since I was a child - to listen to a song for the first time and then inmediately reproduce it in my piano or flute. Unfortunately, this is like a waste of talent because I didn't developed it right and I never use it :/
Another ability I have is my "visual memory". It works like a photograph book in which I save detailed information. I can remember something I read or saw in a book's page just like if I had a photo of it in my mind, and I can tell you if this page were in my right or left side, if the thing I saw was in the upper position or lower, and what color it was.
I think this is a useful ability, specially in the university, where I have learnt how to take advantage of it. When I study for a test, I rather do it from an only one source and use lots of colors, otherwise I can get confused.

Scouting
Good morning everyone!
Today I'm going to talk about a group activity I enjoyed a lot when I was a school girl. I joined the scouts when I was 10 years old. It was an activity that my mum used to do, so she took me there and she joined too, as a leader. First we participated of a group for about 1 year, but then it dissolved and we joined a group called "Genesis" and we stayed there 6 years until we moved out to Punta Arenas.
Genesis means begginning or origin, and this was literally a "Brand new scout group". So we came just in time for the foundation. I remember helping in the insignia design and creating the group's hymn.
We met every saturday's afternoon, since 3 pm to 6 pm. In this time we did different activities, such as learning about scout movement and history, playing team's games and dancing too. I joined the "compañía" directly, because I was too tall for my age, and soon I became the girl's leader, a tittle called "Guía de Guías". The "Compañía's name" was Millaray, and the patrol I first lead was called "Squirrel". We modify the Compañia's call and designed our patrol's insignia and banner.
The most important event was the summer camp, and we worked all year collecting money and supplies for that. Once in the camp, we had to work together as a team, in patrols. We assigned rols each other in order to divide the labors, such as cleaning, cooking, and picking up some firewood. These camps last about 15 days and we usually went in January, somewhere in the south of Chile.
Scouting was an important part of my life that I really enjoyed because I met beautiful people and I learnt very important things, in addition to trained my personality and leadership. I remember this time with love.

Fiestas Patrias?
Hello everyone!
I know that I'm a little late but still I'm going to talk about Fiestas Patrias. In these last years I have not celebrate this date because I'm not such a patriotic person. I don't like fondas nor the alcoholic atmosphere prevailing. Besides, I think that if you want to have some fun with family and friends, you can do a barbacue and staff in any other day, when prices of beef and food are not so high.
I don't remember what I did last year for Fiestas Patrias, but I remember I went to the beach with my family and my boyfriend about two years ago. We bought a lot of meat and food because we like cooking, and we made "empanadas", "choripanes" and roast beef. We also spend some relaxing time together. It was very nice.
I like traditional games like "rayuela". I think this is the kind of things that people should do in this celebration, because it's fun and you can play with family and friends.
In contrast, rodeo is not my favourite traditional practice, but I don't think that It should be forbidden or anything like that. Fortunately, rodeo is not that common. I prefer "corridas a la Chilena".

A song
I like music in general, but it's been a while since I enjoyed a song with lyrics because I prefer to listen to classical or instrumental music instead. Therefore, writing about a song can be a little too much difficult for me. So, I have to go back in time.
When I was a teenager I really liked Shakira, but since she started to sing in english she and her music aren't the same. She has lost her creativity and even her voice. This really bothers me!
Anyway, lets continue. Shakira is a colombian singer, known al over the world for her dancing style. She released her first album "Magia" in 1991, but her major debut was reached with "Pies descalzos" in 1996 and "Donde están los ladrones" in 1998.

A Family meal
My family used to have great long meals every year in my grandparents house, almost every month, but lately I can't remember the last time we have one. I don't know if it is because I don't have the time to actually go since I'm in college or just because having these meetings is not so frequent as it used to be.
So, I'm going to tell you about a lunch we have on summer vacations. I can't remember the date, but it had to be in January-February of 2007 or 2008. Me and my family went to Loncura, Quintero and we stayed in a vacation turist resort of my mother's job. There was me, my little brother Benjamin, my sister Monserrat, my mum and her husband at the time, my mother's parents and her little brother Carlos.
Some day, when we went to the casino to have lunch, my uncle Carlos wanted to play a joke on my mum, so he stealed her dessert and started to eating it. When she found out, she wanted to do the same, and then they started a fight for the desserts and spreaded them all over the table. They even went to the kitchen and asked for more. That made me and the rest of the people in the casino laugh out loud, because it was so funny. But my grandparents, specially my grandmother was so embarrasing that she changed her sit and made like she didn't know them. Memorable.
Another family meal I remember was in the night before the earthquake of February of 2010. I had been in Punta Arenas for my summer vacations and I just arrived to Santiago that night, so I came to my grandparents house about 10 pm. It was a big family reunion and we had a celebration dinner because we had not been all toghether a long time ago. My aunt Mime who lives in Antofagasta was there with my cousins and her husband. My mum was just moved out from Punta Arenas to Quintero, so she came with my brother and sister, and my aunt Lorena with her husband and her 3 daughters were there too. The meeting last until just a couple of hours before the earthquake started, and we were all comunicated, so it was much more calming to live that moment in family.

YouTube Channels
Hi everyone!
Today I'm going to tell you about some interesting channels I follow in YouTube.
First in the list is Epic Rap Battles of History (ERB). This channel upload very funny rap videos made by Nice Peter and EpicLLOYD. These videos shows two or more characters in a vs rap battle, so you'll see all rappers as cosplayers. You can notice a lot of work and research in order to create a good video . My favourite videos are "Bill Gates vs Steve Jobs", "Nikola Tesla vs Thomas Edison", and "Rasputin vs Stalin". They used to play a lot with lyrics.
Another YouTube channel I like is "CrazyRussianHacker". This is a guy that likes making videos about practical home made experiments. Everything he does looks so easy and makes you want to try it too. I know that internet is full of this kind of videos but what I really like about Crazy Russian Hacker is his russian accent and personal style. I think it's so funny!
Finnaly, I'm going to talk about "Vsauce". This is a very interesting channel that combines several topics in their videos like science, technology, video games and more. My favourite section is GAME LÜT. I totally recommend it.

My blog experience
Well, I never had blog before, not even an spanish one. I think this has been a very nice experience. I really enjoy writing in my blog and I'm going to miss it next semester :/
I personally believe that this is a very good thing for students because they can practice not only their grammar but their vocabulary. And, of course, writing a blog not only improove your english skills. You can express yourself by putting your thoughts in words, wich is always a good thing.
I think all the subjects were chosen very carefully. I didn't feel uncoumfortable with none of them because, in general, they were easy. I can't tell you which I enjoy the most because I enjoy writing each post.
On the other hand, I was able to meet some new people with different ideas. I hope we can keep in touch :)

Laura :)
Good morning bloggers.
Today is turn to talk about my little sister Laura. I´ve got two brothers and two sisters. Laura is the youngest one. She was born in November the 18th, 2012, so she's so little yet. She has beautiful blue greyish eyes and a thin clear brown hair. Recently, she learnt to say my name, so I'm very happy about that. She's only able to say a few words like laura, mum, cat, bread and water - obviously in spanish. She calls me "Naty" or something like that.
Laura has a very friendly personality, because she likes to say hi to everyone, and she's very tender too. She usually hugs and kisses us and whoever she want, specially guys and even my cats! - she looks so cute when she does that :3.
She also likes to dance any kind of music and hum any song she can. I think she's very creative with her dance movements. She's got rythm!
I like the many manias she has. For example, she like to eat bread with butter or avocado, but she eats all the butter first and then she ask for more. She likes to eat almost every kind of food, but she´s not fat at all.
I love Laura :)

First day at school
Good Morning Everyone!
I'm trying to remember my first day at school but it is a bit difficult to me. I think I was 4 years old when I enter to "pre-kínder". We all took a photo of our first day. The school was called "N.S. María Inmaculada" and it was near of my home, so my mum brought me to school by walking. My uniform was a jumper, tie, and beret. About two years later the school decided to change the uniform and replaced the jumper for a grey skirt.
My teacher was called Nelly. She was a beautiful, thin and straight hair woman. She wore a Green apron and jeans. I don't remember who I met in my first day, but some of my closer friends was Fanny, Yanatay and Mauricio.
I remember I like going to school so much because I played with my classmates all day. Besides I learnt a lot of new things, like numbers and maths. I also liked writing and drawing. Something I remember is that I ussually brought lemon cookies for snack.

Tickets to Japan
Hello everyone!
I want to travel to Japan since I was a child, because I love anime and manga very much. Now there are a lot of things that I want to see there besides that: The beautiful old architecture and traditional japanese houses, the Mount Fuji, the amazing technology and , of course, true ramen & sushi!. I simply love the entire culture. I think they are very interesting and skilled people with great moral values.
Even when I'm not a religious person, I like to visit many temples like Sensoji in Tokyo, Daigan-ji in Miyajima island, and Todai-ji in Nara - I really want to see that huge bronze statue of the Buddha in person!. Don't forget going to Kyoto and see the emperor's temple. I would like to go to a Cherry Blossom festival or Snow festival too.
One of the things that I really want to do in Japan is going to a onsen and take a long hot thermal bath. In Tokyo, I definitely will go to a karaoke and to a sushi bar. In Kyoto, I also want to see and stay in Gion. I think it must be a very beautiful village, with all these ancient japanese houses. I would like to try sleeping in a futon.
Uff! I think I must stay a whole month in Japan in order to achieve all my goals. I hope I can eventually travel there some day.
Cats!
Hi Bloggers
Here I am, updating my blog after my absence. Today I'm going to write about my cats. I have two cats, both male. I called them "Naranjo" and "Blanco". I'm aware those aren't the most singular names but that's because I'm supposed to give my cats to another person when they were born, but I never found anybody, so I didn't name them appropriately to avoid becoming too attached - obviously didn't work at all.
Naranjo is the wildest. He learnt to climb up very young and he never stop since then. I usually have my back full of scratches because he loves to stand in my shoulder, like a parrot complex. Also, he's very good opening doors and is the best in hunting any kind of insects. What I really love of this cat is that he is the most loving, amorous and affable animal that I ever met. He hugs me and caress me a lot.
Blanquito is a very talkative cat. He always welcomes me with a friendly chat. Sometimes it seems like he answer you and gives you his opinion when you ask something at loud. It's very funny. He really loves lie down "on you" instead of "beside you". He's not so good climber or hunter but he eats anything without getting sick.
Anyway, they are very important for me. They are my friends and partners. They're always by my side. And I mean ALWAYS. They follow me wherever I go, it doesn't matter if they were sleeping, they always sense when I go.

Memorable vacations
Good morning everyone!
Today I'm going to talk about a memorable holiday I had in 2011. It was my first trip on my own, like an adult. I went to Puerto Montt with my boyfriend, to meet his family there. We spend 10 beautiful days in which we visit very nice places like Puerto Varas, Frutillar and Chiloé. I ate a lot of good meat -which I love- beacuse his family got a farm. They like lamb very much, but I prefer bovine. His grandmother also baked cookies everyday. In Frutillar I tasted some delicious berry pies that was wonderful -specially blueberry and raspberry. In Chiloe we ate the best fish ever. I remember the restaurant because it seemed very modest outside, but once you come inside it was very warm and friendly. All the thing were hand carved in wood, so it looked beautiful. Besides, we didn't spend much money. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name.
I enjoyed this holidays because they were so relaxing. It is always nice going to south. You can breath fresh air and have a relaxing moment without sounds except those of the nature.

Classical...
Hello everyone,
Today I'm going to talk about something I really love: Classical music. It's very difficult for me to choose a single song that I like the most, as well as pick an author. I usually heard a lot of classical music. Nowadays I've got more than 100 master pieces in my mp3 player. I really enjoy listening this kind of music because of it's infinite sounds, that seems to go through you from head to toes...
One of my favourite songs that I've been listening lately is a piece from the J.S. Bach's cello suites called "Suite Nº1 in G major, BWV 1007 - Prelude". These cello suites were compose probably between 1717 and 1723. When I listen to this particular one, it makes me feel in peace and very relax. I like the full suite but it takes about 2 hours listening all the six parts. I also have to mention that one of my favourite interpretations of this piece is from Yo Yo Ma, a french-american cellist with a clearly asiatic genetic influence.
I think there is a song for each mood. For instance, when I feel stressed or irritated, I like to listen to Beethoven's symphony Nº5- first movement. It calms me down in almost 100% of the times. This piece was written in 1804–1808. It is one of the best-known compositions in classical music, and one of the most frequently played symphonies.
I love classical music since I was a teenager and I think everyday I love it more.

Algarrobo
Hi Bloggers,
Today it suppose I have to write about a beach I like. The thing is that I don't have a favourite one. That doesn't mean that I don't like it. It's just that I don't go to the beach so often :/ and for that reason I don't know many of them.
However, if I have to pick some, I think It would be the Algarrobo beaches, in the V Region of Valparaíso. These are very nice, clean and peaceful. I don't know all the names, but the most important because of its tourism is "Las Cadenas". In fact, there is a typical store that sells "palmeras" and other kinds of Chilian pastry. I really love it, but it's a little expensive. I also like the "Feria Artesanal" where you can find many handicrafts.
Other beaches I like are "Acapulco" and "El Sol", in Viña del Mar, where used to be the "Muelle Vergara". I remember going there with my family and take long walks, so we can visit the dock and the handicraft market.

Anime time!
Hi friends,
There're been a lot of anime series in my life, but today I'm going to talk about an special one. You all probably know it. It's called "Sailor Moon" and it is based in the japanese manga known as "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon" or "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon", written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi in 1992.
The anime was broadcast in Japan - and then all over the world - from 1992 to 1997. I remember watching it in a channel called "Magic Kids" about 10 am everyday. It is about a teenage girl and her friends who are reincarnations of ancient warriors of the galaxy that protect the earth from the evil forces. They can transform into magical soldiers (sailors) with special powers, who represents the moon and the different planets of the solar system.
Even when I have seen many other animes a lot better tan this one, I still have special feelings about it, because it was the first one. I remember really enjoy watching it, beacuse it was different of the other tv shows of that time, with so many and brilliant colors, nice music and right balance between comedy, romance and action.

Me in Torres del Paine
I
want to share with you this photo of my recent vacations. It was taken in
Torres del Paine this summer by one of my friends in the picture. She programmed the camera in automatic mode,
so we can all appear in the photo :)
I like this photo very much because it represents an ambitious project that we plan together in about one year. That mean a lot of work. We had to earn enough money to buy the tickets to Punta Arenas, pay for the stay in the National Park and, of course, get all the mountain equipment.
The funny thing in all of this is that all started for looking a similar picture that appear in a travel magazine. We just love the landscape. So, we decided to do the W circuit in Torres del Paine in our next vacations. How ever, we didn't know how difficult it could be. It was supposed to take 3 days to finish the circuit but we did it in 5 exhausting days. The first one is definitely the most hard and difficult, and so was the way to get where we took the photo, in "Base las Torres". But once you get there, you immediately realise that it worth it. The view is simply amazing. I totally recommend it.
